Ultrasound could make heart rhythm procedures safer

NCT ID NCT06403527

Summary

This study tested whether using ultrasound to guide needle placement during vein access reduces complications in atrial fibrillation ablation procedures. Researchers enrolled 1,075 adults scheduled for these heart rhythm treatments to compare ultrasound guidance against standard techniques. The trial was terminated early, and aimed to measure complications like bleeding or artery damage within 30 days after the procedure.
