Quick scan could spot hidden danger in Kids' stomachs before surgery
NCT ID NCT06079268
Summary
This study tested whether a simple, non-invasive ultrasound scan of a child's stomach could accurately detect if there is too much fluid present before they receive anesthesia. Having too much fluid in the stomach can be dangerous if it gets into the lungs during surgery. Researchers worked with 92 healthy children to see if a doctor's visual assessment of the ultrasound image (without taking measurements) was a reliable way to spot this risk.
