Ultrasound may spare kids unnecessary x-rays for elbow breaks
NCT ID NCT07429344
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a quick ultrasound can safely tell if a child (ages 5-15) has a broken elbow after a fall, potentially avoiding X-rays. About 543 children will get both an ultrasound and standard X-rays. Researchers will check how accurate the ultrasound is and follow up by phone 6 weeks later to see how the elbow healed.
