New ultrasound method could keep heart failure patients out of the hospital

Summary
This study looks at whether a special five-point ultrasound can better predict fluid overload in people hospitalized with congestive heart failure. Current methods using lab tests and physical exams are often unclear. Researchers will compare ultrasound-guided treatment to standard care in 200 patients at Boston Medical Center to see if it reduces hospital readmissions within 30 and 90 days.
