First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This early study tests a new type of stem cell transplant called 'ultra-transplantation' for children aged 7-12 with severe thalassemia. The approach does not require harsh pre-treatment and aims to avoid graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a common serious complication. Only 5 participants will be enrolled to see if donor cells can safely take over and cure the disease.
