First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving tranexamic acid (TXA) before surgery reduces blood loss in people with a broken thigh bone. 43 adults in Uganda received either TXA or a placebo before open surgery to fix the fracture. The goal was to see if TXA safely lowers bleeding and the need for blood transfusions.
