First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a single dose of tranexamic acid (TXA) before surgery can reduce blood loss in adults with a broken thigh bone. 43 participants in Uganda received TXA or a placebo before open surgery to fix the bone. The goal was to see if TXA safely lowers bleeding and the need for blood transfusions.
