Surgery or watchful waiting? trial tests best approach for twin complication
NCT ID NCT01220011
Summary
This study compared two approaches for early-stage twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a serious condition where twins share blood unevenly. Researchers tested whether immediate laser surgery or careful monitoring with surgery only if needed leads to better outcomes for babies. The trial involved 179 pregnancies to see which approach resulted in better survival and neurological health for twins at 6 months old.
