No-Tube kidney stone surgery may mean less pain for kids

NCT ID NCT07183930

First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at 640 children aged 6 to 18 who needed surgery for large kidney stones. Half got the standard surgery with a temporary drainage tube left in the kidney, and half got a newer 'tubeless' version without the tube. The goal was to see if the tubeless method is just as safe and effective, while possibly reducing pain, hospital stay, and need for blood transfusions.
