First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looked at two approaches for managing stage 1 twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a serious pregnancy condition where blood flow is uneven between twins. Researchers compared immediate laser surgery with careful monitoring (watchful waiting) in 179 pregnant women. The goal was to see which strategy leads to better survival and brain development for the babies at 6 months old.
