Blood sugar + fat index may reveal hidden heart harm

Summary
This study looked at 674 people who had a severe type of heart attack (STEMI) to see if a simple blood test called the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index could predict how much heart muscle was damaged. Researchers used heart MRI scans about a week after the attack to measure injury. They found that a higher TyG index was linked to more heart damage and a higher risk of future heart problems, suggesting this cheap test could help doctors identify high-risk patients.
