New steroid injection may delay chemotherapy for men with tough prostate cancer
NCT ID NCT07161778
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a steroid called triamcinolone in 55 men with castration resistant prostate cancer, a type that stops responding to standard hormone therapy. The goal was to see if a monthly injection could keep the cancer from growing longer than current steroid treatments, which typically work for about 4 months. By delaying cancer progression, the hope is to postpone the need for chemotherapy and its side effects, improving quality of life for older patients.
