Drug combo trial aims to help High-Risk lung patients breathe easier

NCT ID NCT05986318

Summary

This study is testing whether two existing drugs, N-acetylcysteine (an antioxidant) and dexamethasone (a steroid), can reduce severe shortness of breath in people with lung cancer who also have a pre-existing lung scarring disease (ILD). About 98 participants will be randomly assigned to receive one drug, both drugs, or placebos alongside their planned radiation therapy. The main goal is to see if these treatments make it easier for patients to breathe after their cancer treatment.
