Silent brain scars: can common pills stop future strokes?

NCT ID NCT07012629

Summary

This large European study aims to find out if standard stroke-prevention medications help people who have 'silent' brain damage found incidentally on MRI scans. It will enroll over 1,600 adults aged 50+ who have these covert brain infarcts but no prior stroke symptoms. The trial will test whether drugs like aspirin or statins can reduce their future risk of stroke, heart attack, dementia, and death over three years.
