Antibiotic-Free prostate biopsy under study: is it safe?
NCT ID NCT07557901
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether men can safely have a prostate biopsy without taking antibiotics beforehand. The biopsy is done through the perineum (the area between the testicles and anus), which already has a low risk of infection. Researchers will compare infection rates in 300 men who either get antibiotics or not. The goal is to see if skipping antibiotics is just as safe.
