Summary
This study tested whether a hospital policy of using a medicine called tranexamic acid could reduce the need for blood transfusions in adults undergoing major non-cardiac surgery. Over 8,000 patients took part across multiple hospitals. The goal was to see if the policy safely lowered transfusion rates and checked for side effects like blood clots.
