Can a common drug make dangerous transplant surgery safer?

NCT ID NCT07157631

Summary

This large study is testing if a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) can safely reduce dangerous bleeding during liver transplant surgery. Over 1,500 adult patients receiving a liver transplant will be randomly given either TXA or a placebo (saltwater) during their operation. The main goals are to see if TXA reduces blood loss more than the placebo and, crucially, if it does not cause more blood clots after surgery.
