Jaw surgery may alter tooth color, small study finds

NCT ID NCT07150572

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a surgery to widen the upper jaw (SARME) changes the color of front teeth. Thirty young adults participated, half receiving the surgery and half as a control group. Researchers used a special device to measure tooth color before and after treatment. The goal was simply to observe any color changes, not to treat or cure a disease.
