Stick it out: simple tongue trick could ease cancer radiation pain

Summary
This study tests a simple technique called TORT where patients stick out their tongue during radiation for head and neck cancer. The goal is to see if this position lowers radiation to the tongue and throat muscles, reducing painful side effects like trouble swallowing, mouth sores, and taste changes. About 35 adults with certain head and neck cancers will be enrolled and compared to past patients who had standard radiation.
