Summary
This study tested whether adding the drug tocilizumab to standard care could reduce the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after a cord blood transplant in adults with blood cancers. GVHD is a serious complication where donor cells attack the patient's body. Tocilizumab blocks a protein linked to inflammation, which is high after transplant. The study enrolled 46 participants and measured how long it took for GVHD to develop within the first 100 days.
