Smoking and vaping: do they slow down healing?

NCT ID NCT04870970

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how different tobacco products—like cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco—affect the way skin wounds heal. Researchers will measure skin temperature, blood flow, and signs of inflammation in 60 adults, including a group of non-smokers for comparison. The goal is to better understand the impact of tobacco on healing, not to test a treatment.
