First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation technique (rTMS) can improve swallowing difficulty (dysphagia) in people with Parkinson's disease. 26 adults with moderate-to-severe Parkinson's and swallowing problems were randomly assigned to receive either 5 Hz or 10 Hz stimulation targeting the part of the brain that controls swallowing. The study measured changes in swallowing safety and function using video exams and rating scales.
