Brain stimulation shows promise for easing OCD symptoms

NCT ID NCT02355002

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called TMS could reduce symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in 26 adults. Participants received either real TMS or a sham (fake) treatment over six weeks, and researchers measured changes in OCD severity and related beliefs. The goal was not only to see if TMS helps, but also to uncover how it works and identify who might benefit most.
