First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding pain neuroscience education, motor imagery, and action observation to standard treatment (splint, counseling, exercises) reduces pain and disability in 50 adults with chronic temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Participants were randomly assigned to standard care alone or standard care plus the extra mind-body techniques. The goal was to see if these additional approaches improve pain intensity, jaw function, and related symptoms over 12 weeks.
