New drug duo targets tough head and neck cancers

NCT ID NCT04997902

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a combination of two drugs, tipifarnib and alpelisib, in 45 adults with advanced head and neck cancer that had spread or come back. The cancer had to have certain genetic changes (HRAS or PIK3CA). The goal was to see if the combo was safe and could shrink tumors. This is a disease control approach, not a cure, as ongoing management is needed.
