Drug trial aims to shield the brain after a devastating bleed

NCT ID NCT01095731

Summary

This study tested if an existing drug, tiopronin, could help patients recover better after a severe type of brain bleed. Researchers gave the drug or a placebo to 60 patients to see if it could lower levels of a toxic chemical in the brain and improve their neurological function. The goal was to see if reducing this chemical could lead to better long-term outcomes for survivors.
