Banned brain drug trial seeks to lift depression curse

NCT ID NCT04249596

Summary

This study tested tianeptine, an antidepressant used in other countries but not approved in the US, for people with major depression that hasn't improved after trying at least two other standard treatments. Participants took the drug for 8 weeks while researchers measured changes in their depression symptoms. The study also used brain scans and genetic tests to try to understand why some people don't respond to current antidepressants.
