Simple Post-Surgery blood test could help prevent complications
NCT ID NCT02924532
Summary
This study looked back at 300 patients who had their thyroid gland removed. Researchers wanted to see if measuring a specific hormone (PTH) right after surgery could reliably predict which patients would develop low calcium levels, a common complication. The goal was to find a test result that could confidently tell doctors a patient would NOT have this problem, helping guide treatment decisions.
