This study followed 111 pregnant women to see how iodine supplements affect thyroid function throughout pregnancy. Researchers compared women who took iodine-fortified tablets with those who did not, and measured thyroid hormones in both mothers and newborns. The goal was to establish normal thyroid values for each trimester and improve screening for iodine deficiency.
