First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study aimed to create a simpler way to predict how scoliosis (curved spine) might progress in teenagers. Researchers developed a new thumb bone maturity index (TOCI) and tested it on 1500 adolescents with scoliosis and healthy teens. The goal was to improve predictions of growth and curve worsening without relying on complex or less accurate methods.
