3D scans reveal how chest changes after bar removal
NCT ID NCT07498699
First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at 69 people who had a metal bar placed to correct funnel chest (pectus excavatum). Researchers took 3D pictures of their chests right before bar removal, right after, and at 6 and 12 months later. The goal was to see how the chest shape changes over time and find clues that might predict if the chest will sink back in, so doctors can choose the best time to remove the bar.
