Chest fluid test may guide ventilator weaning decisions
NCT ID NCT06685406
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This completed study looked at 120 critically ill patients on breathing machines to see if measuring fluid in the chest (thoracic fluid content) could help doctors know when it's safe to remove the machine. The goal was to find a better, non-invasive way to predict weaning success and avoid failed attempts. The study compared this fluid measurement to other methods like echocardiography.
