Can drinking more water make you thirstier? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT07464002
Summary
This study aims to understand if people who regularly drink little plain water can 'reset' their sense of thirst by increasing their water intake. Researchers will recruit 120 healthy young adults in Salzburg, Austria, who meet general fluid intake guidelines but drink less than 1 liter of plain water daily. Participants will be randomly assigned to either drink more water for 4 weeks or continue their usual habits, while researchers measure changes in thirst, brain activity, and body chemistry.
