Heat probe may zap away persistent HPV in older women
NCT ID NCT07376031
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether a heated probe applied to the cervix (thermal ablation) can help clear persistent HPV infections in women aged 40 and older. 131 women with long-lasting high-risk HPV were randomly assigned to receive the treatment or no treatment, and their HPV status was checked at 3 and 10 months. The goal was to see if the procedure increases viral clearance and whether DNA methylation patterns predict outcomes.
