New therapy aims to shield teens from depression after childhood trauma
NCT ID NCT06273137
Summary
This study is testing a talk therapy called Positive Affect Therapy (PAT) to see if it can help prevent depression in teenagers who have experienced significant childhood adversity, like abuse or neglect. Researchers will enroll about 300 teens, ages 12-16, who have faced at least two such hardships but do not currently have major depression. They will compare PAT to standard supportive therapy to see which is better at boosting positive emotions and reducing future depression risk over a year.
