New therapy aims to ease mental anguish after spinal cord injury

Summary
This study is testing whether a specific type of talk therapy can help improve mental health and quality of life for people who have recently suffered a spinal cord injury. The therapy, called Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), will be offered to patients while they are still in the hospital recovering. Researchers will measure changes in psychological distress and adjustment to see if the therapy is helpful and practical to use in this setting.
