Can a simple electrical zap ease stroke survivors' shoulder agony?
NCT ID NCT07353190
First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a second type of electrical stimulation (NMES) to standard TENS therapy works better for stroke patients with shoulder pain. About 40 adults who had a stroke within the past year and have at least moderate shoulder pain will be randomly assigned to receive either TENS alone or TENS plus NMES. Researchers will measure pain levels, shoulder movement, and daily function to see if the combination offers extra relief.
