Shock or roll? study tests best way for volleyball stars to bounce back after hard training

NCT ID NCT07438197

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at two popular recovery methods—TENS (mild electrical pulses) and foam rolling—to see which helps elite female volleyball players recover faster after intense leg workouts. Thirty players from Iran's Premier League did a tough exercise to cause muscle soreness, then used one of the methods or rested. Researchers checked muscle damage, jump height, sprint power, and soreness over two days. The goal was to find which approach works best for keeping athletes performing at their peak.
