Shock and sweat: new combo therapy targets stubborn high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT07383220

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests whether combining mild electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) with isometric exercise can improve blood pressure in people with resistant hypertension—high blood pressure that doesn't respond to multiple medications. Fifty men and women aged 50 to 60 will be split into two groups: one doing TENS plus exercise, the other doing standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if the combo treatment can reduce blood pressure and improve heart health.
