Ice water test reveals how tennis elbow changes pain processing

NCT ID NCT07178288

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study at Hashemite University compares 38 people with and without tennis elbow to understand how they feel pressure pain and how their body's built-in pain relief system works. Participants answer short questionnaires and have their pain threshold tested with a device that applies gentle pressure near the elbow and wrist. They also place one hand in ice water to see how their body turns down pain during and after the cold stimulus. The goal is to learn more about pain processing in tennis elbow, which may help improve future treatments.
