First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tests whether mesotherapy (injecting a mix of medicines into the skin) works as well as shock wave therapy for tennis elbow. Fifty adults with elbow pain for at least 6 weeks will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. Pain, grip strength, and quality of life will be measured before treatment, right after, and 12 weeks later.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

mesotherapy (lidocaine, pentoxifylline, meloxicam, thiocolchicoside)

What this could lead to

If mesotherapy works as well as shock wave therapy, it could offer a new, needle-based option for easing tennis elbow pain without surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Both treatments are short-term and may not provide lasting relief.
