Video link may tame ER violence in psychiatric crises

NCT ID NCT05771545

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at using video calls to evaluate patients in psychiatric emergency rooms instead of waiting for a doctor to arrive in person. Researchers will compare 959 patients evaluated by video to past patients seen in person. The goal is to see if video evaluations shorten ER stays and reduce violent incidents. This is an observational study, not a treatment trial.
