Summary

This study tests a telephone-based version of the All Nations Breath of Life program, designed specifically for American Indians who smoke. Participants receive coaching calls over the phone and are compared to those in a general smoking cessation program. The main goal is to see if the tailored program helps more people quit smoking for at least 7 days after 6 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Telephone-based smoking cessation program (All Nations Breath of Life)
What this could lead to
If effective, this culturally tailored program could provide a proven way to help American Indians quit smoking, reducing smoking-related diseases.
What could go wrong
The program may not work better than the comparison, and quitting smoking is difficult—success rates may be low. Results are from a single study.
