Summary
This pilot study tested a 12-week telehealth lifestyle program for Black adolescent girls with obesity who are at risk for type 2 diabetes, along with their female caregivers. What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
telehealth lifestyle program (mindfulness, nutrition, dance, cooking)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a scalable way to reduce type 2 diabetes risk in Black adolescent girls through lifestyle changes.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (19 participants) with no control group, so results may not be generalizable. The program requires significant caregiver involvement, which may limit real-world adoption.
