Can a remote eye exam replace the Doctor's office for diabetic patients?
NCT ID NCT03437018
First seen May 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether monitoring moderate diabetic retinopathy (an eye condition caused by diabetes) through remote expert review of images is as effective as a traditional in-person eye exam. 97 adults with diabetes and moderate retinopathy took part. The goal was to see if tele-expertise could accurately classify the disease stage and guide follow-up care without needing a physical visit.
