First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive treatment called transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA) for people with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). TEA uses mild electrical pulses on the skin to stimulate nerves and may improve bowel symptoms. The trial will enroll 200 adults and compare real TEA to a sham device to see if it reduces abdominal pain and loose stools.
