First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated Apr 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests a non-invasive therapy called transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA) for people with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). TEA uses mild electrical pulses on the skin to stimulate nerves and may improve pain and bowel symptoms. The trial will enroll 200 adults and compare TEA to a sham (fake) device to see if it safely reduces abdominal pain and loose stools.
