Could a Low-Voltage zap to the brain silence tinnitus?

NCT ID NCT06628414

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a safe, low-dose electrical stimulation technique called tDCS can reduce the loudness and distress of tinnitus—a condition where people hear sound without an external source. Forty adults with tinnitus will receive multiple tDCS sessions to see how well it works and how to best measure changes. The goal is to gather key information needed to design a larger, more definitive clinical trial.
