New hope for colorectal cancer: drug duo aims to wipe out hidden tumor DNA

NCT ID NCT05343013

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding celecoxib to TAS-102 can clear tiny amounts of cancer DNA (ctDNA) in the blood of colorectal cancer patients who have finished standard chemotherapy. About 25 adults with stage II-IV colorectal cancer and no visible tumors on scans will take TAS-102 with or without celecoxib for 6 months. The goal is to see if the combination can eliminate these leftover cancer signals and reduce the risk of the cancer coming back.
