First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special diet made from tartary buckwheat can help lower blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Researchers believe the diet works by restoring healthy gut bacteria. The study involved 130 adults aged 18–60 with untreated grade 1 hypertension. Participants followed either the buckwheat diet or standard lifestyle advice, and their blood pressure and gut microbiome changes were measured.
